Originally a manufacturer of strings, Fender acquired the V.C. Squier Company in 1965 - and by 1982 the company name had resurfaced as a 'value' Fender brand manufacturer in the Japanese market to offer to countries outside of the U.S. Squiers first venture was to offer an affordable version of the Fender Made in Japan Vintage models – and those Squier “JV” models remain collectors items today due to their scarcity!
As time continued, Squiers expansion to series such as the Affinity and Pro Tone guitars have let guitarists looking to pick up the electric guitar for the first time have a reliable instrument they could afford, while still having great Fender tones!
