What are the benefits of upgrading Win. 7 Home Premium to Professional?

I just found out that I can get Windows 7 Professional upgrade for 29.95 and I think it’s a good deal considering that it normally goes for around 80.00

But what’s the actual difference other than just a few more options like xp mode and domain join feature?

Aside from "xp mode and domain join feature" there is not much, you are right.
At least with Ultimate you get bitlocker (to encrypt USB thumb drives, external drives or system drives).

If you worked in a company with a corporate network, and business apps that only run in XP mode then you would really want the Professional version. But if that’s not the case then its just a waste of 29.95

  2. Professional has (that Home Prem. doesn’t):
    Domain join
Support for backing up to a network location
    Location aware printing
Can be connected to with remote desktop
    XP Mode
    Group Policy
    File encryption
    Offline folders

  3. That’s it. By domain they mean you can setup a network of computers for an office and use some that are Xp on it. Usually you get a free 30 trial.
