I agree with you. Socialism has always been a very ambiguous word, and it gets thrown around to brainwash ignorant people. The Nazis officially called themselves socialists, but of course it is impossible to understand how a fascist could be left wing. And the mainstream “socialist” parties in Europe today are actually centre or left-of-centre, with strong ties to capitalism. It’s just ridiculous to suggest that they are fanatical anti-capitalist authoritarians like Chavez.
