How can I access my wireless network on Vista if it asks for credentials that I don’t have?
Bought a new Compaq Presario C700 laptop with Vista Home Premium, whenever I try to access my wireless network (using a Belkin N Wirless Router – Cable) to set up an internet connection over the Wi-Fi a box appears and asks me to ‘Enter Credentials’ which are: ‘User name’, ‘Password’ and ‘Logon Domain’, I don’t have any of these, no-where in Belkin’s instructions does it have any of these, the closest I have is a WEP key but that doesn’t work. Any help will be gratefully received
Have already got a Vista computer running on the network albeit wired into the router, and have never had this problem
Wired laptop into router and internet worked fine, so its any information on wireless
Enter the user name and password you setup when you setup the computer. (Don’t enter a domain, unless you are joining one like using Server 2003 etc) Once entered that should allow access to the area where you set the WEP/WPA key.
(you can also enter "Administrator" and the admin password)
One of Vista’s little security levels.
Added: The "Credentials" question only appears when you attempt to CHANGE a network connection. The one that is working isn’t being changed but when you attempt wireless you are attempting to change the connection.
